Welcome to the year of the Metal Tiger. Let’s look at what this year means for the world as a whole. Then we will move onto how this year will affect you in your own home and office. (If you would like to jump to Feng Shui tips for the Home, click here.)
FENG SHUI IN THE WORLD
In Feng Shui, each year has a unique energy based on the Five Elements: water, wood, fire, earth and metal. This year is symbolized by two elements – metal sitting on top of wood. According to Feng Shui, metal chops wood. Unfortunately this means that 2010 will see more international conflicts.
In addition, there could also be dangers regarding nuclear weapons. Feng Shui works on a 60 year cycle, so issues that appear in 2010 will have parallels to what was happening in 1950. That year we saw the beginning of a nuclear arms race between the US and the USSR.
However, in Feng Shui there is always a silver lining! The Metal Tiger year can foster deep friendships between allies, and a quality of justice which will help leaders do the right thing when pushed to act.
Financially, in the Flying Star system of Feng Shui, 2010 is an “8” year. The number 8 represents wealth, so it could be the year that we slowly move out of our global recession, helping each of us to see more green in the bank!
FENG SHUI IN OUR HOME
Now let’s look at our homes and offices. Below are 9 Tips, corresponding to the eight compass directions, plus the center of the space. Where possible, try to use the suggested element for each area. But if that is impossible or impractical, use the color which corresponds to that element.
(Note: If you have received a personalized Feng Shui consultation from me in the past, please contact me for a personalized 2010 annual update. This will allow you to maximize the power of the new annual energy in your space!)
EAST section:
This area of your home or office could be good for money this year. Add WATER to increase abundance. (A fountain, aquarium, or colors blue or black)
SOUTHEAST section:
Not a strong area for romance, or creative work (writing or the arts). Add WATER to strengthen romance and creativity. (see East section for suggestions)
SOUTH section:
This area could be good for work promotions or fame. But be careful of theft or robbery here. Add EARTH element to balance. (Crystal, stone, ceramic or marble items, or colors orange, yellow, tan or brown)
SOUTHWEST section:
A CRITICAL AREA. Weak for health, and possible accidents. Avoid using this area for sleeping, working, or other key activities.
Add MOVING METAL element. (A wind chime, metal mobile, clock with swinging metal pendulum or ceiling fan. Colors white, silver, gold, gray)
WEST section:
A good area for money, romance, and wealth. Would make a nice office or bedroom. Add WATER to further strengthen. (See East section for suggestions)
NORTHWEST section:
Good for money, but be careful of arguments. Add EARTH element to promote harmony and wealth. (See South section for suggestions).
NORTH section:
Extremely strong for romance. Good for creative work and academics. Would make a nice bedroom! Add WOOD to enhance good energy. (Living plants or flowers, color green.)
NORTHEAST section:
Could be good for money and property, just be careful to avoid high risk investments. It could also be good for pregnancy if metal is added.
Add METAL to balance the energy. (Items made of chrome, brass, iron, colors white, gold, silver, grey).
CENTER of your space:
This area can be difficult for money. Be careful of accidents involving children. Add METAL to improve this area. (See NE section for suggestions)
The above recommendations are general suggestions, and while they can certainly be useful, their effectiveness will be enormously enhanced once they are set in the context of the home or office’s individual Feng Shui reading. Especially in difficult economic times, this is an important advantage to give yourself. I offer customized consultations both in person, and online. The results that my clients have seen have been quite spectacular – highlighting the power of true Feng Shui.
May the Year of the Tiger bless you with power, wisdom, and abundant good luck!
All the best,
