When you listen to the media these days, it sometimes sounds like we are on the brink of an economic collapse! Between the weak property market, rising energy prices, and growing unemployment, it’s pretty easy to feel frightened about what the future holds. Still, while larger economic trends will run their course, there are some very tangible steps that we can take on an individual basis to protect ourselves. One of these steps is to give ourselves a Financial Feng Shui tune up.

I often think of Feng Shui as the ultimate secret ally. This is because the majority of people simply don’t understand the amazing advantages that they can give themselves by harnessing the hidden earth energies in their own home or office. If we are among the lucky ones who know about Feng Shui, we can take certain key steps to buffer ourselves in a financial downturn, and acquire that special hidden edge that keeps the abundance flowing even if the economy as a whole is struggling.

So, how do we do this?

Well, there are two ways. The first is quite simple, and while it’s not as powerful as the second, it can still make a real difference in our lives. Essentially, we want to “plug the leaks”, and make sure that money, and all forms of abundance, are not draining needlessly out of our home or office. Below I have listed a bunch of easy steps that can we can take in this regard.

The second approach involves the use of a far more sophisticated branch of Feng Shui, one that requires a specialist. For those of you who have received a full consultation from me before, you are familiar with the Lo Pan, or Chinese compass, which is used to get a precise directional reading on the building in question. Once such a reading is taken, a calculation is made to determine the exact energy pattern in that space. While I always look to shore up financial well-being in the spaces that I read for clients, I have recently innovated a new type of consultation that places special emphasis on attracting money energy, and pushes issues of economic abundance to the fore. I’ve named this new consultation the Financial Tune Up, and I’m offering it right now at a reduced price. Contact me to learn more about it.

Now, let’s start to plug those leaks we discussed earlier!

The following is a list of simple actions that we can take to insure our home or office is allowing in the maximum amount of abundance and, just as importantly, keeping that abundance inside once it arrives:

-The front door of any home or office is always a key money area in Feng Shui, as it is considered the Mouth of Chi. This is where money enters, and therefore you can see a big impact simply by making a few small changes. Such as:

  • Make sure the door opens easily. A broken or overly heavy door can create obstacles to money entering.
  • Pay special attention to your entry foyer or hall. It should feel spacious and inviting, so remove or hide all mail, keys, coats, shoes…etc. Make entering the home or office an experience of ease and space, not confinement and clutter.
  • It’s a great idea to include a water feature of some sort near the front door. Possible suggestions would include a fountain, or even an aquarium.
  • Keep the lighting in this area bright and cheerful, as this will work to attract the chi energy.
  • It’s best not to have a bathroom right near the front door, as this tends to flush away the money that enters the home or office. Still, if this happens to be your situation, keep the door to the bathroom closed as often as possible.
  • Having a staircase leading right down to the front door is also a negative, as the money energy tends to run right out the door whenever it is opened. If this is the case, then consider buffering the effect by placing a large plant or a curtain at the base of the stairs, at least partially blocking the flow out the door.
- In addition to the front door, you’ll also want to pay some extra attention to your front yard.
  • It’s never a great situation to have a house with a sloping yard or driveway, as this allows money to drain away down the hill. If you have this sort of property, add a fence, wall or bushes down at the property line, to keep the money energy contained.
  • Avoid having any dead or dying plants in the front yard, as this is a very low chi energy, which relates to life and abundance. Keep all of your plants healthy, and remove any that are on their last legs.
So, that list ought to keep you busy for a while. And, in the meantime, do consider having a special Financial Tune Up. I can conduct these consultations from a distance, so no matter where you live you can receive the benefits of Feng Shui in your finances. In good times or bad, it never hurts to have a secret ally on your side!

All the best,
