What does Feng Shui have to do with luck? The Feng Shui Masters believe there are three kinds of luck: Heaven luck, Human luck and Earth luck. Heaven luck is the grace of God, the Universe or whatever greater power we believe in. Human luck is our own self-effort; our will. Earth luck is Feng Shui – the influence of our physical environment. When these three "lucks" are in alignment things in our life go smoothly, often effortlessly.

We have power over our "human luck" since we can set goals and work to reach them. We have power over our "earth luck" through using the principles of Feng Shui to create a home and office environment that supports us in reaching our goals. And what about "heaven luck"? Well, that's a little beyond my job description… but just knowing that we can guarantee that two of the three lucks are working in our favor are pretty good odds, right?! And, in my experience, having these two lucks in alignment can produce powerful results.

When applying Feng Shui to a client's space, I ask them what specific changes they want in their life. I often recommend that clients write a detailed intention, or "vision statement", for each area they wish to see change, and then place the written statement where they can read it daily. This helps reinforce the "human luck" of their own self-effort, while the Feng Shui influences the "earth luck" of a supportive environment. I've seen this have great results for many people. Several clients have done this exercise around the area of relationship and quickly met a partner. Others wanted a career change, and this formula allowed new opportunities to show up within a few months.

So, is good Feng Shui equal to good luck? As a famous writer said, "Take a second look at what appears to be someone's good luck. You'll find not luck but preparation, planning, and success- producing thoughts." Feng Shui, I believe, is the "miracle grow" ingredient that, when added to our own focused intention, speeds us to our goals.

Here's wishing you a New Year filled with of every kind of good luck!
